The OWB Pancake holster is made out of black .080 Boltaron or Kydex. It’s very strong, has excellent durability, scratch resistance, and good definition. The design is approximately 50/50 split. What does that mean? Approximately 50% of the weapon is to the outside with 50% to the inside.
Although not designed as a IWB holster with a simple clip/belt loop change (available as a separate purchase) our 50/50 OWB Pancake holster can become a very comfortable IWB Holster.

Pancake Holster

The Pancake holster has all the same design characteristics as the Standard IWB. The difference is that it is not a “taco” holster. The gun is sandwiched between two pieces of .080 Kydex/Boltaron and riveted on the sides. (Maybe it should be called a sandwich holster.) Weight of the gun is distributed over 4 to 6 inches. Our pancake holster design is slightly different than most.
For belt attachment we use the BT Mod-Lok System. This allows us to keep the footprint of the holster as small as possible. The gun is generally straight up and down in the holster. Mod -Lok belt attachments are attached to the rivets. Depending on how many rivets are forward or back of the holster, ride height can be adjusted simply by moving the Mod-Lok up or down the rivets. Cant is achieved by offsetting the belt attachments. Holsters are shipped with belt attachments offset ¾ of an inch which is about 10° cant. The pancake holster can also be converted into a inside the waistband holster. (IWB). With the use of the IWB Mod for an additional cost. You may also need to round some of the lower corners on your holster to aid in comfort while wearing it inside the waistband. This can be done simply by sanding. Start with 220 grit then 400. Available left or right-handed.
The pancake holster can also be converted into a inside the waistband holster. (IWB). All one needs to do is remove you’re outside the waistband attachments and install J hooks or struts with soft belt loops on the front side of the holster. We sell kits for that. You may also need to round some of the lower corners on your holster to aid in comfort while wearing it inside the waistband. This can be done simply by sanding. Start with 220 grit then 400.
All OWB Pancake Holsters come standard with:

- 1.5 inch nylon belt loops can be user adjusted 90° carry, or approximately 15° FBI Cant. This will be adjusted by moving the belt loops up or down the sides of the holster
- Weapon is positioned at 90° (straight up-and-down in the holster)

So I ordered a pancake holster for my Sig P365XL w/Crimson Trace laser. I wanted a digital camo pattern on it, and to fit the laser. It arrived in under 2 weeks, and fits the pistol perfectly. And it is by far the closest fitting holster I own – and I own a lot of holsters for various handguns. Even though it is an OWB design – it fits so well an untucked shirt hides it completely with no printing.
The fit & finish are first rate, and the adjustable tension works as advertised. Overall I am very pleased with this holster – it exceeded my expectations and as a firearms instructor who owns a gun shop & range – my expectations are high. If you are on the fence about getting one of these holsters, do yourself a favor and buy it.

Fantastic quality and workmanship. Just by looking at the holster you can see the care put into process of the build. Like the title of my review implies, it holds the pistol VERY tightly. As soon as I received it, I had to try it out. I put it on, making sure the clips were over my belt to help retain the holster during the draw. I literally pulled the holster back off my belt while trying to remove the gun. I then had to use both hands to free it.
I’m sure that with a couple hundred cycles. It will wear in long before it wears out.

OVERALL: This is my first purchase from DME. I was attracted to the site because DME offered so many different options (different lights, lasers, red dots, mounting options, etc.). This allowed me to get exactly what I wanted in one place without having to make compromises, a feature very few other holster makers could offer. The holster and mag pouch were of excellent quality. The price, while on the high end of the scale, was consistent with the quality. The 15 week wait almost sunk the deal. I understand the owner wants to have work waiting for him. I get that. However 15 weeks seems excessive to me. Were it not that DME had exactly what I wanted I would have looked elsewhere. The speed clips were especially interesting to me. They have lived up to my hopes.
IMPROVEMENTS/SUGGESTIONS: I was carrying a Glock 19 but wanted to go to something lighter. I have large hands and a Springfield Hellcat is a tiny gun. When I tried to draw the Hellcat from the holster the knuckle of my middle finger came in contact with the holster body in front of the rear speed clip. It peeled the skin off my knuckle and drew a small amount of blood. I used a Dremel to smooth the area but the knuckle still contacts the holster. The attached photo gives an idea of how the holster could be relieved in this area to prevent this. I understand that not everyone has large hands but for a premium price there should be a product that is useable for folks with hands on the larger end of the spectrum. I will have to relieve the holster body in this area myself to make is comfortable to use.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Would I buy from DME again? Yes. They offer a high quality product at an acceptable price. I hope that this review will bring some change in the design of the holster so that future purchases will be absolutely perfect right out of the box.

My Son and wife gave me an OWB Pancake holster for Christmas. Though it took time to come (but to be fair, I ordered it right after Christmas – and there was probably a flurry of orders!) this is my favorite off duty carry holster. It fits snug to my waist and makes for a low profile carry – hard for others to see.
The draw is smooth, and weapon fits like a glove for confidence that it is going nowhere if I am running or in a tussle.
I am towards the end of my 30 year career and would highly recommend the OWB Pancake to any LE professional!

Great product and service. Came to DME from CZ’s website as they listed them as one of their recommended custom holster providers for their products. I have a CZ SP-01 tactical with extended barrel and raised sights to accommodate an optional suppressor. There are no aftermarket standard stock holsters that fit it well (at least none I could find). Also, many other ‘custom’ holster makers would not make one for my CZ for some reason… maybe too specialized? DME was the first place I found that said “no problem.” They even had my gun options available in the order application (including option for extended threaded barrel). After a few emails so I could be sure he knew what I needed, I placed my order. When I received it, it was perfect. Fit perfectly with easy adjustments for tension. Rapid clip on option makes it easy to snap it on and off my belt and it still feels secure. It is super light and it looks very high-quality. Fits high and close to my body and even though it is an OWB holster, I could easily conceal it under a light jacket. I recently got a S&W M&P that came with a holster but I’m probably going to order a DME holster for it as a replacement. Also, got a 2-mag mag carrier and it is very good too with tension adjustments and same quality build. Great product with excellent workmanship and customer service. Only down-side is the wait but that just shows how many people want DME products.

I mounted a Crimson Trace tac light (CMR-208) on my Sig P220 a couple of years ago. I have been searching for someone that makes a holster in that combination and finally found it at DME. I just received my OWB pancake holster in the mail today and it fits my Sig like it was made for it – imagine that. :-) The fit is better than a glove and the retention is perfect. I have other kydex holsters , standard and custom made for other pistols, but the quality of the kydex from DME is better than any other-thick and sturdy. I have purchased four of the DME OWB pancake holsters over the last year for pistols of very different shapes and sizes (Glock 34, a 4 inch 1911, a 3 inch 1911, and a CZ P-01). The pancake design holds the pistol very close to the hip which is a big plus for concealability under a sweatshirt or vest, but remains very comfortable for extended wear while standing, walking or sitting in the car. I strongly recommend this product. On at least two of my purchases, Tim followed up with some figment questions during the production process to make sure the holster and Thumb-break retention strap fit just right. Great product. The fit of the holster matched my Sig 1911 Ultra Compact with TLR6 perfectly. The only thing that bothered me was that one the rivets has what appeared to be a slight rust spot and some of the screws had the black protective coating peeled off (most likely due to tip of screw driver scrapping against it as the screws were installed at the factory). Additionally, I would have preferred the holster to have been in some protective bag while in the box during shipping so it wouldn’t be bouncing around the inside of the box as well as it would provide some protection in the event the box was inundated with water. The holster is plastic, but the rivets and screws are metal. As mentioned earlier, some of the black protective coating was scrapped off exposing the metal to the elements. Price was good, shipping was fast, and overall a great product. Would recommend!

Hi Thomas Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. The rivets are made out of brass, coated with black oxide. So my guess would be it must’ve gotten scuffed somehow. The screws and binding posts are all stainless steel, coated with black oxide. We purposely use stainless steel so the holsters can be washed and you don’t have to worry about rust. Please check and see if all your screws & post are in fact stainless steel. See if a magnet will stick to them. (anything can happen in the shop) On my personal holster when the black oxide wears off I just color them with a sharpie. I will address the packing. Holsters are to be packed tightly in The box so they don’t bounce around with packing paper on top and bottom. Nothing on the holster can rust so therefore we don’t see the need for plastic bag for protection. If you would like I can send you a return label to have the rivet replace?
