Kydex/Boltaron is an extremely durable acrylic/PVC alloy
Kydex or Boltaron is extruded in a wide range of colors, patterns, textures, thickness and grades to optimize long-term performance, appearance, and cost effectiveness. No other thermoplastic stands up to impact, scratches, and gouging like Kydex/Boltaron. It offers Impact resistance to 18 ft. lbs./in. (953 J/m) and is able to withstand various levels of abuse. Due to its high degree of toughness and resilience, Kydex/Boltaron can also be stretched at room temperature to twice its original dimension without breaking.
Kydex/Boltaron holsters are more concealable
The material strength of Kydex/Boltaron allows for greater strength with a fraction of the thickness associated with leather concealment holsters. A thinner holster significantly decreases printing.
Kydex/Boltaron Holsters have no break-in period
Your holster will fit the same every time.  Whether it is your first draw or your 1000th draw.  This means that there are few; if any, adjustments needed to start carrying your holster and firearm.
Kydex/Boltaron holsters are weather-proof
Kydex/Boltaron holsters can be worn in the rain and do not swell or contract due to sweat, humidity, or extreme weather.  In fact, Kydex/Boltaron will help keep the moisture produced by sweating from coming into contact with your firearm because Kydex/Boltaron will not absorb moisture, unlike most conventional holsters.
Kydex/Boltaron holsters are easier to clean and keep clean
If your holster becomes dirty it can be washed with soap and water. Detergents may be applied to it.  Gun cleaning chemicals or lubricants will not affect the Kydex/Boltaron material.
Kydex/Boltaron holsters will not collapse when you draw your gun

 

 

When you draw your gun with a Kydex/Boltaron holster, the mouth will stay open and the shape will not change. This allows you to use one hand while re-holstering your firearm.

Kydex/Boltaron holsters are less expensive
There are some very specialized and well crafted Kydex/Boltaron holsters that seem pricey, but as a generalization Kydex/Boltaron holsters are less expensive to purchase.
Kydex/Boltaron holsters are fast on the draw

When comparing them with conventional holsters.
In most IPSC / IDPA competitions, the fastest competitors are usually wearing Kydex/Boltaron.

Will Kydex/Boltaron holsters eventually wear on my firearms finish

The simple answer is yes, but on a positive note because the retention point is around the trigger guard you should not see the same type of wear that you would get from a conventional leather or nylon holster.

Bought 1911 3″ standard IWB for Para PDA. Fits perfect out of the package but it’s good to know I could adjust the retention if needed. Holster is very fast to put on and take off. Clip design holds holster completely secure and comfortable even when wearing shorts with a regular nylon belt. Furthermore the holster positions the pistol grip against your back . (4 – 5 o’clock carry). No printing. Since it’s kydex there is no collapse so reholstering is easy. Add to that a great price and free shipping, this holster is hard to beat. From shipping to overall quality this is by far the best holster I own, my original shipping ETA was 10-14 days and received it in nearly half that. Upon opening the shipping package it was well wrapped and protected on top of the already straight forward packaging. In the packaging I received warranty and care information, a hardware kit, and the holster itself. The last holster you’ll ever buy I bought an iwb holster for my xd .45 service model when their store was still on eBay. I was new to kydex and still unsure about it. This is by far the best holster I own. It’s durable, comfortable and does not require two hands to reholster. The sweat guard keeps your gun off your body and dry. Kimber Ultra Carry II
I own many holsters from leather IWBs to pancackes to hybrids. This holster is by far my favorite. Fit and finish are sot on.. retention was perfect right out of the box. Kydex used is top of the line. Belt clip and 15 degree cant are perfect. What can I say, this has been the only concealed carry holster I use(daily) since I received it. Buy this holster now, you won’t regret it. In fact you`ll want one for all of your weapons.
